5th Sunday in Lent

Come join us at Stone Presbyterian Church in Clinton, NY 10:30 a.m. Sunday March 26 for worship in person and live streamed on Facebook Live as we as we celebrate fifth Sunday in Lent, including a special Lenten Walk by the “wilderness” as we reflect on the beginning of the 40 days of preparation for Easter. Storyteller Donna Goodfriend will tell a vision of the valley of dry bones from Ezekiel 37:1-14. We hear how we life and peace in the Spirit from Romans 8:6-11. Pastor Scott Leonard will tell the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead from John 11:1-45. He will preach on “Grave Situation.”

Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (gym)

 

This year, Clinton Area Ministerium is presenting “The Journey-Shepherding God’s People” (thejourneyvideo.com) a new 12-month video/bible study series that has been produced locally and is fully funded through the generosity of St. Joseph’s Pastoral Care.  The goal is to offer this ecumenical ministry to all who value and are seeking spiritual wellness by means of grace, hope and reassurance of God’s love. Local clergy, Rev. Carol Jubenville, Fr. John Buehler and Fr. Tom Servatius have come together ecumenically to share a time of praise, prayer and God’s everlasting presence with the viewers. 

In our Lenten series, the first three weeks we will be focusing on the video and study “Jesus Wept”; John 11: 1-37. Why did Jesus weep? Is there more to the story than he was sad and filled with grief that his friend Lazarus had died or was he preparing himself for the greatest sacrifice? 

In last two weeks, we will prepare ourselves for Easter as we view “Celebrate the Resurrection”; John 20: 19-30.  As Christians, we will be experiencing the passion of Christ but then he rises from the dead. He lives! Our attitude turns to hope and a future full of possibilities! We celebrate because those challenging and dark days of the passion have given way to a new beginning.

After each video there will be a time of reflection moderated by one of Clinton’s clergy. 

This year’s ecumenical Lenten Series will be hosted at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the gymnasium on Wednesday evenings beginning with a light soup and bread supper at 6:00 p.m. followed by the program.
